Art Deco in Mexico City – Small Groups

We'll see monuments, residences, an opera house, and even a bank that illustrate the development of this style in the city. This walking tour is designed for both Art Deco novices and experts who want to understand what makes this Mexican movement so special and unique.

An introduction to Mexican Art Deco, its formal characteristics and nuances related to the Mexican War of Independence, influences from other countries, but also how this movement speaks volumes about Mexico's indigenous past as it evolved during the creation of a national identity. We will explore the exterior of the monument and discuss other Art Deco buildings in the area. We will not enter this museum because no Art Deco elements are on display. Afterward, we will visit the interior of the Palacio de Bellas Artes and the Bank of Mexico Museum.
